- Will the installer remove and dispose of the current flooring?
- Is your home's sub–floor suitable for new carpet installation?
- Do you have enough tack strip to complete the project?
Be prepared. Let us help you with the next step; find a local installer by using our search directory at the top of
the page or review our Carpet Installation Guide for DIY
assistance or use our checklists to help you make your best decision.
Carpet Install Preparation Tips
- It is best for carpet to be the final step in a remodel; after construction, paint, and wallpaper.
- Vacuum old carpet – airborne dust and debris can circulate when tearing it up for removal.
- As new carpet is installed, inspect for even color and texture.
- Check the new carpet height under doors and plan to have them trimmed if necessary.
- Ventilate the rooms or areas for the project.
- Vacuum the sub–floor/area again after old carpet removal.
