Founded in 1942, the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) represents the building industry and exists to serve its members and associated local and state builder’s associations. The NAHB goals are as follows:

  • To ensure and sustain an equitable national regulatory, legislative and judicial public policy.
  • To ensure public appreciation for the necessity of housing and those involved in providing it.
  • To remain the primary and ultimate resource for information, research, education and technical expertise in the industry.
  • To improve business performance among its members and associates.
  • To effectively manage the staff, physical and financial resources and meet the association's needs.

NAHB endeavours to create an environment for the following:

  • Where all Americans achieve the dream of ownership of their own home and have access to housing of their choice.
  • Where builders are able to operate in an open and competitive climate as unfettered entrepreneurs.
  • Where the strength of the nation is measured by its housing.

The NAHB holds an annual conference at different venues. The last conference – the 11th Annual NAHB Green Building Conference was held from May 8–10 in Dallas and was attended by nearly 1,200 delegates.

The next NAHB conference is scheduled to be held in Raleigh, NC from May 16–18, 2010. The following categories of people are expected to attend who will benefit from various discourses on green building for the typical residential building industry:

  • Developers
  • Land planners
  • Designers and architects
  • Product manufacturers (such as green flooring manufacturer)
  • Product retailers
  • Utilities staff, energy raters and home inspectors
  • Multi–family builders
  • Single–family builders

Currently proposals are being invited for educational seminars. The working group is seeking a range of different proposals covering marketing, business management, science and technology related to residential building including selecting and installing floor coverings. Proposals are invited that are focused on different project types which include remodeling and multifamily development and construction. Also expected to be covered are different skill levels from green building novices onwards.

The Annual Conference will be the venue for presenting the NAHB Green Building Awards. It includes a Green Homes Tour where a number of green building projects at various stages of completion are on display. With a host of expected delegates actively associated with the building industry, the conference is an ideal occasion for showcasing innovative building–related green products and procedures. It is also an ideal venue for advertisers of building–related products and services. Past conferences have witnessed a significant quantum of business transacted across the table.

The conference also invites sponsors. A sponsorship endows a company with the automatic status of being a leader in the Green Building Industry. There exists an array of sponsorships to choose from which makes the occasion a perfect marketing opportunity to forge relationships by focusing on decision makers.

A sponsor, exhibitor or advertiser has the perfect opportunity to connect with the pillars of Green Building on a one to one basis.
