I think you should read this if you are interested in the origin of Persian rug designs.

what you knew as Persian rugs may not have originated in Persia after all...
It is open to debate whether or not all the designs traditionally ascribed to

Persia are in fact Persian in origin, and there is some evidence to suggest

that a number may have had earlier links with Anatolia, India or Central Asia.

What is not disputed, however, is that their current degree of refinement and

decorative panache is the result of the skill and artistry of the 16th and 17th century

Persian weavers and designers.

Hello This is my second think.

Now for the weaving, the patient, painstaking labor at which so many hundreds of

thousands of swarthy fingers are flying, and have been flying since the days of

the Pharaohs. Measured by results it is a wonder work; watched, in its tireless repetition of

three simple processes that a child can master, it seems no more of an art than

the constant turning of an hour glass-which, in fact, to myriads of these Eastern people,

it is. The whole thing is simple, to look at, to read about; but there is, nevertheless, some

peculiar spirit, some mental drift, some inherent and mysterious fitness pervading and

governing their work, which makes these

Orientals the best weavers in the world.
