best floors for the desert???

My wife and I just moved to the very hot, very dry climate of the Mojave desert. We just bought our home and were wondering what type of flooring works well out here. We are both from the Midwest and are not sure what to buy. We appreciate any suggestions!

I would use tile or store personally.
