How do I remove old carpet without releasing mold and allergens into my home?

Isolate the room you are working in by sealing off all vents and interior doorways. Open windows and outside doors. Carefully roll up the carpet, being careful not to shake it more than necessary. Using a HEPA filter may help also.

RE: remove old carpet safely
To help keep the dust down you can use a razor knife and cut the old carpet in manageable strips and put in large plastic bags when removing from the room.
