A lot of vinyl flooring has been installed over a particleboard underlayment. I have personally been on many claims due to moisture seeping into the particleboard and resulting in replacement of the flooring. Most vinyl manufacturers will not warranty their products when installed over particleboard. The reccomended underlayment is an underlayment grade plywood under vinyl.
