I am looking to purchase new carpet for my living room and master bedroom, and I wanted to know what types of licenses or certifications to look for when choosing an installer. Thanks

Select an installer that is licensed, insured, and bonded. Make sure their certification is present (ask for copies if available).

Also, ;ook for an installer that has experience in the business. Don’t be afraid to ask them questions to find out about their work ethics and technique. Ask them what level of clean up they do, what tools they use, and so on.

It is also a good idea to ask the installer for references.

All of these are good suggestions. You can usually find links to a list of licensed contractors on your state government's home page. Look for your state's Division of Occupational Licensing or similar.
You can also call local retailers in your area and ask if they've heard of your potential installer. If you find a salesperson or two with a few minutes to spare, you might get more info than you bargained for!
