Can someone explain the environmental benefits of using bamboo?

It helps to reduce our dependence on wood products, which are not as easily renewable.  Bamboo can be harvested after growing for only 5-7 years where hardwood takes 60.

Bamboo grows very fast but we have to remember that there is a lot of glue inside of bamboo flooring.Is glue enviromental? hmmmm I don't think so.
