A local dealer tried to sell me wood floor that was softwood instead of hardwood. Would you recommend a softwood floor and what is the difference?

RE: What is softwood
People don’t usually understand what “softwood” is. That doesn’t necessarily mean the wood is soft. Softwood means it comes from a coniferous tree such as pine or spruce.

RE: What is softwood
Softwoods can make excellent flooring choices as long as you know how to care for them. They may dent and scratch easier than some hardwoods, but this can also add to a casual or rustic look. You can easily touch them up with stain if they become scratched and show a lighter color underneath.
