I’ve heard that although bamboo is considered green flooring, some manufacturer’s are not being responsible in the cultivating and harvesting of it. Can you expand on this and is there a specific certification that I can look for to make sure I am not buying these products?

RE: responsible bamboomanufacturers??
That is true. It is being grown in some areas with fertilizers that are harmful to the environment. Also, some forests are being cleared to grow bamboo, creating a monoculture. They may use chemical weeders as well. When manufacturing, many use glue that contains formaldehyde to bind the bamboo...the list goes on. Its very arguable whether or not bamboo is considered green because of the irresponsible measures some are taking. We are waiting and hoping for a FSC certification for all bamboo but have yet to see one. There is however FSC certified bamboo plywood available.
