My toilet overflowed and sewage got on my carpet. Is there any way to save it?

RE: can I save this?
It’s not usually recommended to save carpet that has been in contact with sewage.

Personally, I would replace the carpet. If you try to save it, you will need to remove the carpet, thoroughly clean and sterilize it, treat the subfloor, and replace the padding with new padding. Then reinstall the carpet once it is dry.
