My linoleum in my kitchen has stained where my rubber back rug was. What happened and can I fix it?

It sounds like the rubber stained the floor and I don’t believe it can be fixed. Possibly may be able to remove the top coat and replace it.

If it's truly linoleum and not vinyl, it could just be due to the lack of light getting to the floor under the rug. There's a name for this with linoleum, but I'm sorry, I'm tired and I can't think of it right now. Anyway, if it is linoleum, not to worry, just move the rug and the "stain" will eventually fade.
